Worth every mile of the drive
We drove four hours each way and would do it again tomorrow. Brayan met us outside, let Basil come to us in his own time, and walked us through his feeding and his health record before any money changed hands. He slept through his first night at home. That tells you everything about how he was raised.
She is exactly who they said she would be
I was nervous about buying a puppy I had only seen in photos, so I asked a lot of questions. Every answer was patient and specific. They described Olive as quiet, watchful and a little stubborn, and that is precisely the dog living in my house. No exaggeration anywhere.
Our children’s first dog, and the right one
We wanted a first dog who could handle two loud kids without getting overwhelmed. Lorette asked us more questions than we asked her, which we appreciated. Winston is unbothered by absolutely everything and has become the calm centre of the house.
Patient breeders, and honest about timing
Pearl went home two weeks later than we first hoped because she was not quite ready, and they would not budge on that. Frustrating in the moment, obviously the right call in hindsight. She arrived confident and well started. Four stars only because the waiting was hard on the kids.
Health records were spotless
Our vet went through the paperwork line by line at Hazel’s first visit and said it was the most complete record she had seen from a small breeder. Vaccinations, deworming dates, weights, all of it written down. Hazel has not had a single health issue since.
Still sending them photos two years on
Duke is two now and I still get a reply within the day whenever I message with a question. They wanted to know how he settled, how he was with the vet, how his ears were doing. That kind of follow-up is not normal and it should be.
She settled in within a week
I braced myself for a month of chaos and got about four days of it. Nutmeg came home already used to being handled, already used to household noise, and already sleeping in a crate. The familiar blanket they sent with her made the first two nights genuinely easy.
Wonderful dog, we wanted more photo updates
Poppy is everything we hoped for — gentle, funny, endlessly patient with our youngest. The only thing we would change is the wait between reserving her and bringing her home, where we would have loved a photo every week or two rather than when we asked. Everything else was excellent.
They talked me out of the wrong puppy
I had my heart set on a particular pup and they gently explained he needed more activity than I could give him at seventy-three. They suggested Otis instead. They were right and I was wrong, and they could easily have just taken my money. That is why I recommend them.
Calm, gentle and remarkably well mannered
Cleo was already responding to her name and walking on a loose lead at ten weeks. She is affectionate without being needy and has never once been destructive. Whatever they do in those first weeks, it works.
Our second basset from them, same care
We adopted our first from Brayan and Lorette in 2021 and came straight back. Nothing has slipped. Same honesty, same records, same follow-up call a fortnight after homecoming. Rufus and our older girl were curled up together by the third day.
They answered questions for weeks before we committed
I emailed them for nearly a month before I was ready. Not once did I feel rushed or handled. They sent temperament notes, explained what bassets are genuinely like to live with, including the parts people do not mention, and let me decide in my own time.
A long wait, but the right puppy
We were on their list for close to five months. That is a long time when you are excited, and it is the reason this is four stars rather than five. But Gus was worth it — sound, sociable and completely at ease with strangers. We would wait again.
Our vet asked who the breeder was
Marlow’s first check-up ended with our vet asking where we got him, because his weight, coat and temperament were all where they should be. He is the third dog I have raised and by far the easiest start I have had.
Ears, feeding, joints — they explained all of it
I did not know bassets needed their ears checked as often as they do, or how careful you have to be with stairs while they are growing. All of that was in the booklet they sent home with Ivy, and Lorette went through it with me in person as well.
The comfort blanket idea made all the difference
Such a small thing, but sending Bruno home with a blanket that smelled of his litter meant he barely cried. He is a big, soppy, sixty-pound lap dog now and I cannot imagine the house without him.
Lovely puppy, paperwork took a few days
Delilah is a joy and clearly came from a home where she was handled daily. Our only note is that the registration paperwork followed on a few days after pickup rather than coming with her, which meant a couple of chasing emails. Minor, but worth knowing.
No pressure, no sales talk, just honesty
I have dealt with breeders who treat you like a transaction. This was the opposite. They were upfront about what a basset costs to keep, upfront that Copper would shed and drool, and upfront that they would take him back rather than see him rehomed badly.
The calmest dog at the park
Fern is unshakeable. Bicycles, toddlers, other dogs barking in her face — nothing rattles her. Three separate people at our dog park have asked for the breeder’s name, which says more than I can.
Good with our older dog from day one
Introducing a puppy to a nine-year-old dog is where things usually go wrong. Brayan and Lorette walked us through how to do it slowly and it went better than we dared hope. Moose read the room from the start. They clearly socialise these pups properly.
Worth the drive, though it was a long one
Nine hours in the car with a new puppy is not something I would rush to repeat, and I would have paid for a transport option if one had been offered. Tilly herself has been faultless — healthy, sweet natured and easy to train. Everything about the puppy was five stars.
